Antennas (200, 270, 400, 500, 1500 Mhz)

Several types of antennas are available for the Subsurface Interface Radar (SIR) type of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems. The defining characteristic of these antennas is their operating frequency. The higher the antenna's operating frequency, the smaller the antenna's size and pulse loop, the greater the data resolution, and the shallower the depth-of-penetration. An 80 MHz antenna is the practical minimum frequency while 1500 MHz is the practical maximum. We offer them in either 200, 270, 400, 500 or 1500 Mhz.

Pratical uses include:
200 MHz Antenna

The 200 MHz antenna can be used for applications that require a lower frequency signal to penetrate deep (down to 9 M) for geotechnical applications.

geophysics
  • Locate utilities and other man-emplaced targets to deeper depth.
  • Identify geological features such as bedrock, groundwater and boulder prior to excavation.
  • Map landfills, burial trenches and filled-in waste lagoons on environmental site assessment projects.
geophysics

270 MHz Antenna

The 270 MHz Antenna is ideally suited for deeper utility, engineering and geotechnical applications.

geophysics
  • Locate buried utilities drums and underground storage tanks.
  • Identify depth and location of objects of all construction materials, i.e., concrete pipes, plastic drums and fiberglass tanks.
  • Locate utilities and other man-emplaced targets to deeper depth.

400 MHz Antenna and 500 MHz Antenna

The 400 MHz antenna is ideally suited for shallow (down to 3 m) engineering and environmental applications.

The 500 MHz antenna is similarly suited for the same applications as the 400 MHz antenna but can reach slightly greater depths of 5 m.

geophysics
  • Locate buried utilities, drums and underground storage tanks.
  • Identify depth and location of objects of all construction materials, i.e., concrete pipes, plastic drums, fiberglass tanks.
  • Identify voids under man-made structures such as roads, runways and buildings.
geophysics

1500 MHz Antenna

The 1500 MHz Antenna is a very high-resolution antenna used to inspect concrete structures and roads.

geophysics
  • Unsurpassed data resolution for concrete investigations
  • Used to locate objects embedded in concrete, such as rebar, tendons and conduit
  • Map thickness of concrete and overlying cover
  • Specially configured for access to small areas
  • Also used for other very high-resolution, near surface applications
